I was meeting my friend Andrea for a late breakfast the other day after our workout. I needed to eat a little something before my workout but I didn't know what to eat. In Martha Stewart's "body and soul" magazine last month there was a really interesting article about a month long detox. I don't think I could do a month, but one breakfast, yea, I can manage that. I was surprised at how good this was and actually kept me from being hungry. Usually after my workout I'm starving, not this time. Give it a try, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Detox Mango Smoothie 2 servings (refrigerate half for later, but no longer than 24 hours) or halve the recipe 1 1/4 cup soy-free almond milk 1/2 cup coconut water (you can actually find this in a regular grocery store where the sell the Mexican ingredients) 2 leaves kale or Swiss chard, coarsely chopped 1/4 avocado (if you save the other 3/4 make sure you mash it and sprinkle with lemon juice) 1/2 cup mango chunks 1/2 cup ice Put all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. ENJOY!
Trying to become a vegetarian when you surrounded by meat eaters may not be a easy task. Its crucial to my heart and health. Green, becuase I'm new to this, come learn with me!
In 2005 I discovered I had Hodgkins, 12 weeks of chemo followed by 4 weeks of radation I thought I was on the road to recovery. And I was, until 2008. I decided it was about time to start excercising, so I did, until I realized after walking for a mile it felt like some one jumping on my chest. Turns out I needed a stent, my arteries in my heart where damaged. Once again, I thought I was on the road to recover, later in the year, the stent failed, they put in another one, again, I thought I was on the road to recovery.
Until April 2009, I woke up one morning, I felt like I was being choked. A week later I was having open heart surgery, the stent they put in last year didn't work. My arteries had been severly scarred from my radiation treatments. I decided it was time for a change, I needed my body healthy and the way to do it I feel is to become a vegetarian. I can do it, you can too!
